WHO AM I
![]() My name is Martin Gostwick. I have been the National Trust for Scotland's manager of its Cromarty properties since 2000, following the retirement from the post through ill health of my wife, Frieda Gostwick. These properties have the collective name of Hugh Miller Museum and Birthplace Cottage. (Tel+44 (0)1381 600245, fax +44 (0)1381 600796; email: mailto:mgostwick@nts.org.uk). I have been a freelance journalist by profession for most of my working life, and am the author of two books, The Legend of Hugh Miller, an introductory biography (£2.75 + 50p for p&p), and A Noble Smuggler and Other Stories, an illustrated edition of Miller's early journalism (£6.99 + 75p for p&p). I was awarded Highland Journalist of the Year 2000 for features and articles on a broad range of issues published in the regional media. My work as a journalist is now an integral part of my job as manager of the Miller museum, and is entirely devoted to raising Hugh Miller's profile. The website operates independently of the National Trust for Scotland, but is supported by the Trust. I view my role in looking after this website as a facilitator for contributions to it from anyone who has a genuine interest in him, and in the new museum. Please send me your name and contact details if you wish to go on the website address list, and any other information to the following email address: info@hughmiller.org The creation of this website has been generously financially supported by Ross and Cromarty Enterprise (RACE) and the Cromarty Arts Trust (CAT).
